UFC 259 featuring an amazing performance from Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson with her GOAT Status on display with her Black Belt Jiu Jitsu. Is there a worthy challenger out there to dethrone possibly the greatest woman's MMA fighter of all time or has the Lioness become even more dangerous with her new found purpose and family behind her. 
Of course the event couldn't end without some controversy with Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan disqualification with an illegal knee strike to the head. With Aljamain Sterling now the newly minted UFC Champion is he posed to hold onto the belt in a rematch coming down the pipeline after his tweeter feed rant about paper champions.

Mat Rocca is a BJJ Black Belt training under the Cicero Costa banner with Professor Fernando Zulick but his beginnings in MMA and BJJ stretch further in the sports rich history. As the UFC began to grow in the shadows so did the now legendary teams with its first athletes. One of those teams was the Ken Shamrock led Lions Den MMA in California. What a crazy week it has been and we're sure it's about to get crazier. Many things are happening in the BJJ world especially with BJJ Stars around the corner and the newest matches being made in WNO but that's not everything. Conor McGregor lost to Dustin Poirer, Wall Street is in complete collusion and coruption (like it wasn't before) and a Travel Ban for Canadians?
Mike and I go into the crazy events unfolding before our eyes with Wall Street and Robinhood vs WallStreetsBets! Now are we going to give you any financial advice? Heavens no, but WTF is going on. Not only trying to make sense of the fight between WallstreetBets, Retail Investors and the establishment. 
Not only that we can't fly to Mexico or the Caribbean with our travel ban, all incoming international passengers must be staying in a hotel like the Ritz Carlton based on the cost the government is suggesting upon re-entry. Crazy times we live in that's for sure. 
And finally what happened to Conor McGregor on UFC Fight Island at UFC 257. Are we going to see Conor McGregor back in the octagon on quick turn around to turn is misfortunes back around. Is he done fighting and moving onto other pursuits? Is Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao or Conor McGregor vs Jake Paul the next fight to make?

Coming off his silver medal performance at World Masters 2020 in Orlando Nathan was able to give us a look inside the mind of a competitor surrounded by challenges in getting his training in for a major competition. Using his time to head to Orlando to train with Professor Pat Cooligan of Team Renzo Gracie Orlando who opened his doors to Canadian Competitors looking for a training ground with some many restrictions upon Ontario currently. Have the ability to training with many others including Rodolfo Vieira before his match with Kaynan Duarte.
Talking about his growth from white belt to black belt, student to coach and the competitions along the way. Competing in some of the biggest tournaments from IBJJF Worlds and Pan Ams, Abu Dhabi Tour, ADCC and many others Nathan Dos Santos is still continuing his journey on his path to becoming a black belt world champion. Recognizing his responsibility in his journey to becoming a better coach and leader Nathan is up for the challenges ahead no matter the restrictions placed upon him.

#37 - Alessandro Roman-Camargo - Focus

As we closed out the year we spent some time speaking with Toronto BJJ standout and Black Belt Professor Alessandro Roman-Camargo. Alessandro a black belt under Professor Jorge Britto has had the opportunities competing on the worlds biggest stage from Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles and more, developing a mindset and focus to drive his passion. As we discuss some of the lowest points of his injury which helped callas his mind and focus. 
Getting his opinion on the growth of Canadian Grappling and the rise in popularity over the years. How some of the biggest names like Gordon Ryan, Andre Galvao, Keenan Cornelius and others are able to monetize their brands and jiujitsu styles to take the sport to levels never seen before. Not to mention his take on who's the number one grappler right now and who would have the edge in the potential Gordon Ryan vs Andre Galavo match at ADCC 2021. 
As a parent his goals and structure has changed but his determination and love for competition is never has truly left. Talking some of his favorite matches and super fights Alessandro will continue to strive for excellence in every path he pursues.

#36 - Ergys Sigeta - The Man, The Myth

If we're ever going to be looking for the most interesting man in Canadian MMA and grappling, taking stroll up the 400 into North York might do the trick. Working in the shadows with a never tiring grinding wrestling tenacity like Khabib Nurmagomedov and cracking jokes like Joe Rogan as he rag dolls you you'll find Ergys Sigeta. At 23 Ergys is currently sitting at a  4-0 Pro MMA record and a Purple Belt IBJJF NoGi World Championship but that is no way is he stopping there. As the pandemic might have shifted his game plan it hasn't shifted his process or goals. As he won't be heading back to 155lbs anytime soon, 185lbs or 170lbs have been put on notice.
Ergys a Robson Moura purple belt under Professor Dominic Passero splits his time between Grants Rival MMA and BTC (Burlington Training Center) within the GTA, his current fights or matches are put on hold but that doesn't stop Ergys from ensuring his teammates are ready to go when the call comes in.
